continence assessments
At Empower Nursing Services, we offer specialised continence assessments designed to support individuals living with disability - delivered with a balance of compassion, dignity, and evidence-based knowlege.
Continence care can be a sensitive and often overlooked aspect of health, yet it plays a vital role in a person's overall wellbeing, independence, and quality of life. Our approach recognises this, and we’re here to help clients and their families navigate continence challenges with respect, discretion, and practical support.
Each assessment is conducted by an experienced nurse with advanced training and a deep understanding of the physical, emotional, and social impacts of continence issues. We take the time to get to know every client - listening carefully, asking the right questions, and tailoring the assessment to their unique medical history, current needs, and daily routines.
Our continence assessments include:
A comprehensive review of medical history, current symptoms, and lifestyle factors
Collaborative goal-setting with the client and their support network
Evidence-based continence management strategies tailored to the individual
Education and practical guidance for carers, parents, and support workers
Recommendations for suitable continence products and funding support pathways (such as NDIS)
Ongoing support and follow-up to ensure sustainable outcomes
Whether the client is a child just beginning to navigate toileting or an adult facing new or ongoing continence challenges, our goal remains the same: to deliver practical, personalised solutions that enhance comfort, promote independence, and uphold dignity.
We are proud to provide continence care for both adult and paediatric clients across rural NSW, with services delivered in-home or within the community - wherever our clients feel most comfortable. Assessments can be performed both in-person or virtually based on personal preference and geographical location.
